OWA AAA Tournament Teams

These will be based on team needs and for the girls teams will be on an invite only bases. Please reach out to us with any questions.

• December 27th - Teams TBD
• February 15th - Teams TBD
• February 22nd - 16U Teams

• Players trying out must try out for their age bracket, summer hockey does not follow the same guidelines that your winter association does, and the teams we play will follow the same birth year guidelines that we do.
• Your player does not need to play up to get better at hockey, we will find competition that pushes our players.
• Through the evaluation process a player may be asked to skate with an older group.  
• These fall evaluations will be used to identify the players that are ready to compete on one of our tournament teams. Players are evaluated on skating ability, puck handling, shooting, playmaking, compete, & hockey sense.
• After the tryouts have been concluded, players will receive an invitation to play with our tournament teams, or they will receive an invitation to be on practice team. 
• All players that tryout will receive an invitation to be a part of One Way Athletics.
• Players who accept the tournament team invitation coming out of the fall tryouts will be guaranteed a roster spot on either the Black or the White team for the 2026 season.
• At the levels where we will be having two teams, the top 26 skaters and 4 goalies that have received tournament team invitations will be invited to skate with the team a couple times over the winter and then be invited to the final tryouts held December 27^th and/or February 15th. Again these 30 players will already be guaranteed a spot on a team for the upcoming season.
• After this final invite only tryout, team rosters will be finalized for the Black and White teams for the 2026 Season.
• You will only be charged for one tryout session, so if you attended the fall tryout you will not be asked to pay again for another session. 

• Being prepared for the season and having great communication is something we really take seriously. With the growth of our program, we need more time to prepare for the upcoming season. 
• Having fall tryouts helps us understand how many teams we will have at each level allowing us plan everything months in advance, so when rosters are finalized, teams will have all their information right away. 
• We also understand that kids can grow and develop over the course of winter season. By keeping the top 26 skaters and 4 goalies and having a final tryout in February allows girls to showcase what they have learned over the winter.  

Black Teams

• Black will be our highest level team for that age group and compete in 4 AAA tournaments, one of which will be a destination tournament.
• Black Team players will be asked to commit to putting this team before any other summer hockey teams that they are playing on. If you can’t make this commitment, please have a discussion with your coach prior to accepting a roster position. 

White Teams

• White teams will compete in 3 or 4 AAA/AA tournaments over the season. 
• White Team players will be asked to commit to putting this team before any other summer hockey teams that they are playing on. If you can’t make this commitment, please have a discussion with your coach prior to accepting a roster position.

Practice

• These players will have a reduced rate and practice with the tournament teams over the summer. Practice players may not have a tournament on the schedule but while developing and practicing with the teams they may be asked to join a team for a tournament to fill a roster spot. 

• The target roster for each team is 13 skaters and 2 goalies.
• A team in some cases may elect to roster 14 skaters and 2 goalies. 

Black Teams

• Season cost is $1095, and players receive the following.
• 4 Tournaments.
• 2 Jerseys, 2 pairs of socks, & 1 breezer cover.
• 1 FCA Athletes Bible.
• 8 to 10 practices.
• A $150 initial payment towards registration will be required at the time of accepting an invitation to a roster.
• A $250 discount will be given to the goalies on the teams that roster 2. 
• Monthly payment plans will be available.
• Returning players that do not need to order new jerseys will receive a $50 credit per jersey.
• Returning players that do not need to order new breezer covers will receive a $40 credit.
• Everyone will be required to order new socks which are included in the registration fee. 

White Teams

• Season Cost is $940, and players receive the following. 
• 3 tournaments
• 2 Jerseys, 2 pairs of socks, 1 breezer cover.
• 1 FCA Athletes Bible.
• 8 to 10 practices.
• A $150 initial payment towards registration will be required at the time of accepting an invitation to a roster.
• A $250 discount will be given to the goalies on the teams that roster 2.   
• Monthly payment plans will be available.
• Returning players that do not need to order new jerseys will receive a $50 credit per jersey.
• Returning players that do not need to order new breezer covers will receive a $40 credit.
• Everyone will be required to order new socks which are included in the registration fee. 
• The team will have the option to add a fourth tournament, if the team elects to add the extra tournament an additional $155 will be added to the registration. 

Practice Teams

• $100 for skaters and goalies.
• Monthly payment plans are available.
• FCA Athletes Bible.
• 8 to 10 practices. 

What do I need to bring to tryouts?

Tryout jerseys will be provided, bring your gear, two sticks, and a water bottle.

Does everyone that tries out make a tournament team?

No, unfortunately with some teams we don't have enough roster spots for all the kids that want to participate. In addition, we do our best to rosters players that are ready for the teams level of competition that they are trying out for. That being said we do want to provide an opportunity for every player to have a home at OWA so if they are not ready for a AAA or AA level of play we will be offering some practice player opportunities for them to continue to develop there skills. We want to help every player develop whether they make one of our tournament teams or not.

Following our September tryout, the kids that do not get invited to join a team may be invited back for another tryout in the spring if the team is not full.

Some teams will fill their roster following the September tryout and some teams will leave open spots to be filled at the spring tryout.

When will we find out the results of the tryout?

We will do our best to get results sent out within a week or two. Some teams may need extra time.

How do I know which team my child should try out for?

AAA Summer Teams are formed by birth year so you will sign up for the birth year that your child falls in. This is different from association hockey where the month/grade do matter. This means that even if your child is born on January 1st they still play for their birth year.

How many tournaments will the teams play in?

Teams will play in 3 to 4 tournaments over the course of the spring and fall. Tournaments are primarily in April, May, and August. We try our best to not schedule any tournaments in the months of June and July.
